Local Kwaito star Sipho Ndlovu, more commonly known as Brickz, has received a 15 year jail sentence in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Brickz was found guilty of raping his then 17-year-old niece at his home in Johannesburg in 2013, reports News24.
Magistrate John Baloyi highlighted the testimony of the victim.
According to the testimony, as noted by Times Live, Brick’s niece reported that because she had been a virgin prior to the rape, she was bleeding and was in severe pain after the ordeal. Baloyi further pointed out that Brickz instructed her to take a bath after he raped her and threatened her life.
It is understood that the victim has had trouble coping after the rape. Reports suggest that she is suicidal.
Brickz was denied a more lenient sentence as requested by his lawyer.
Brickz has also been denied leave to appeal his conviction.
His lawyer is now set on filing a petition with the High Court.
