Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town has opened a new unit, to care for sick infants.
The hospital’s Chantel Cooper says, “You would get your tiny babies into ICU, but they’re not well enough to go into a ward and not critical enough to stay in ICU. That is the biggest challenge we face in ICU.
This comes after three years of generous donations, amounting to R100 million.
EWN reports that the unit includes more beds, a waiting room for parents, a breastfeeding room and a space for social workers.
