SAPS officers ‘steal’ R210 000 from man they pulled over

Two SAPS officers have been arrested for corruption and theft in Pienaarsrivier, north of Pretoria.
According to a police statement, the officers, a Sergeant and a Constable aged 39 and 40 respectively, apparently stopped and searched a car on the N1 road near Pienaarsrivier.
It is alleged that the officers found an undisclosed amount of money in the car and reportedly demanded a R20 000 bribe.
Apparently, they threatened to charge the complainant with money laundering.
According to the compliant, he found that R210 000 had gone missing from the money he was carrying.
He then opened a case against the officers.
After an investigation by the Hawks, the officers were arrested.
They are expected to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrate Court on Thursday, on charges of corruption and theft.
