Private investigator Brad Nathanson, who took on the murder case of Siam Lee, says that upon his arrest, Siam murder accused was “cocky and cheeky.”
Speaking to News24, Nathanson said that the suspect did not want police to place handcuffs on him.
Nathanson also said that the suspect appeared to be “highly intelligent,” and “the complete opposite of what one might imagine.”
“He is a biochemist, speaks beautiful English and hardly the kind of guy you picture committing a crime of this nature,” Nathanson told News24.
Nathonson also told Times Live that the suspect had a neat appearance.
“He’s very well dressed and very well spoken. He’s a businessman. He has a nice property,” he said.
The Durban-based private investigator took on Siam’s case on a pro bono basis.
He told Times Live that he had vowed not to shave his beard until an arrest had been made.
The suspect was arrested in Assagay on Wednesday.
Siam was last seen leaving her workplace in Margaret Mayton Road, Durban North on 4 January.
It is alleged that the suspect who has been arrested, kidnapped her in a Mercedes Benz Vito which has since been recovered by police.
Two days after her disappearance, a burnt body found on a farm, approximately 100km from where she was last seen alive, was positively identified as Siam by a family member.
