Former youth league treasurer and Member of Parliament Pule Mabe has been appointed as the ANC’s new national spokesperson.
Mabe now replaces Zizi Kodwa, the party’s previous national spokesperson.
In a statement issued by ANC Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte, the party says that the appointment will be effective today (6 February).
“He is product of the ANC’s political preparatory school, the ANC Youth League, and rose through its ranks to serve as Treasurer General in both the 23rd and 24th National Executive Committees,” reads the statement.
Mabe is a journalist who holds a BTech in Journalism from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
Mabe resigned as a Member of Parliament in 2017, apparently to “continue pursuing his interest in business.”
Duarte says that the party has full confidence in Mabe.
“The African National Congress wishes Comrade Mabe well in his new role and has full confidence in him to execute his new task at the helm of our communication machinery with distinction.”
