Time running out for Zuma

Written by on February 23, 2018

Former president Jacob Zuma is set to hear his fate regarding several corruption charges he is facing by midnight on Friday.

According to Times Live, a five-person prosecuting team will today recommend whether or not National Director of Public Prosecutions Shaun Abrahams should proceed with Zuma’s prosecution.

In October, Zuma had been given until 30 November to defend his case.

However, the deadline was extended to 31 January.

Times Live reports that the prosecution team was given until 23 February to recommend whether the prosecution, led by KwaZulu-Natal Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Moipone Noko, should be allowed to proceed.

It is understood that once this recommendation is made, Abrahams will make the final decision on the matter.
